LUFC - Christie departs Leeds

Striker Malcolm Christie has departed Leeds United after four months with the club.

Christie who has struggled with injuries during his career initially came to Leeds to regain his fitness. The club signed him on a non contract basis back in October and he made his debut in the 5-2 FA Cup win at Northampton.

Speaking on the official website Christie said "After speaking to my wife and family over the last few weeks I have decided to leave Leeds United with immediate effect"

The 29 year old scored his only goal for the club in Leeds 3-1 victory at Stockport over the Christmas period; he only made five appearances for Leeds as he still struggled with injuries during his short time with the club.

Christie was quick to thank Leeds after announcing his departure when continuing on the official site he said "I would like to thank all the medical team and especially Harvey Sharman who has helped me massively over the past 18 months in order to get me fit"

Shame he continued to get injured, if he could have stayed fit he would have done well in League One.

I think the injuries have taken the sting out of him and hes lost a good yard of pace. He needs to be playing at his age to build back up and hes not going to do that with Beckford, Becchio and Trundle here. Good luck to him as he deserves it.

Can`t see big daft lazy Tresor being above him in the pecking order-who can? Millwall maybe? But Malcolm Christie is not the same player he was but after those injuries who would be? Good luck to him-hope he keeps making and scoring more goals in the future-hopefully not against us though..
