LUFC - Leeds v Carlisle preview

Leeds entertain Carlisle United on Saturday hoping to continue their recent improved form since the appointment of Simon Grayson.

Both Leeds games over the Christmas period were against teams in the top seven, firstly they got a hard earned home draw with Leicester City before beating Stockport County away 3-1 two days later.
Last Saturday`s game at Hereford United was called off because of a frozen pitch

Carlisle enjoyed a good Christmas period with a 3-0 home victory over Huddersfield Town and a 0-0 draw at Oldham Athletic.
They also fell foul of the big freeze last weekend.

Team news

Leeds
The home side have Jermaine Beckford back to full fitness after he went off injured against Stockport.
Malcolm Christie picked up a back injury in the midweek reserve victory against Bradford and is the only doubt.
Paul Huntington is still recovering from injury but is getting closer to a return.

Carlisle United
The visitors have an almost fully fit squad; Paul Thirlwell and Peter Murphy are back in contention after injury.
The only absentee is Chris Lumsdon who is back in training but not yet match fit.

History


The two clubs have only ever met seven times at Elland Road, Leeds have won four with two draws and Carlisle winning once.
Carlisle`s only victory coming in last seasons play off semi final first leg when they won 2-1, Leeds went on to win the tie on aggregate with a 2-0 victory at Carlisle.
The clubs have already met this season when Leeds won 2-0 at Carlisle with goals from Luciano Becchio and Jermaine Beckford.

It will be interesting to see Grayson's tactics and formation for this game after he's had almost two weeks without a game to work with the squad.
