LUFC - Leeds appoint Grayson

Leeds have appointed Simon Grayson as their manager and he replaces Gary McAllister who was sacked on Sunday with immediate effect.

Blackpool are sure to want compensation and are crying foul play after they refused Leeds permission to speak to Grayson on Monday.

Grayson handed in his resignation on Tuesday morning but Blackpool refused to accept it, soon afterwards Leeds announced his appointment.

The 39 year old started his career at Leeds United but he only made a couple of appearances with the club before he enjoyed a long career with Aston Villa, Leicester and Blackburn in the Premiership before finishing his playing career at Blackpool.

Grayson was appointed Blackpool manager in 2006 and led the club to the Championship in 2007 when winning the League One play off final. He kept the club in the Championship in his first season with the club and they currently lie in 16th position well clear of the relegation zone.

The former defenders first game in charge will be the Boxing Day clash against one of his former clubs Leicester City.
