'If It's Football, It's Vital'

LUFC - McAllister 'Conditions no excuse'

Gary McAllister was quick to admit Leeds had no excuses for their poor performance at Histon Town in the FA Cup on Sunday.

He refused to blame the near monsoon conditions played on a very heavy pitch as an excuse when speaking on the official site said 'I couldn't fault the effort of the players on a difficult pitch but we were sloppy and paid the price.
'I hope this will hurt the players because my stomach is churning and hurting at the moment."
Leeds were woeful in the first half against a much hungrier and hard working Histon, they did come out in the second half but for some bad luck and tremendous defending could have earnt at least a draw, continuing McAllister said 'The facts are that they are through and we are out and we've got to take that on the chin and have a positive response. Football is a cruel game at times and after the second-half performance I dont think we deserve to be out, but we didn't show enough quality throughout the match.'
Leeds now have no excuses with no more cup games to get in the way of their League ambition`s this season.

I cannot see us going up, we will be lucky to make the play offs on our recent form.

we hit a similiar bad spell last year around february or march...hopefully its just a temprrary thing....We have the quality but no confidence...alot like Arsenal are at the moment but they seem to be winning the big games....
Gromjo
Lets put the past behind us,stay positive & focus on the league. STAND UP AND SING FOR LEEDS.

Had the recipe for disaster, to be frank it would have been a shock for United to win! Well done Histon.

Lets all hide from the truth im sick week after week everyone says lets cocentrate on the league, i have been following leeds all my life andseeing what im seeing being played on the pitch we will never go up the players are not good enough not saying them all but its no point we have a cra* defence that leaks goals week after week the midfield changes like i change my underpants and the srtikers are great becchio and Beckford but is it fair to expect these guys to keep leeds winning week after week to many players who dont want to roll there sleeves up and to be honest i think Macca has done all he can for us run out of ideas beacuse if he thinks he will get it right with the defence he has he is more stupid than what he is looking like at the moment, He better be busy in January getting rid of some of the Cr*p we have and getting players in who can make a difference stop acting like we are ok we are a joke . Turbo2 with all due resect WE can all stand together or be devided, Like most fans they av supported their team all their lives as well so your not unique. Im not making excuses but could players like Delph, Robinson & other players play their type of football, taking players on , Even the best players in the world wouldn't av been able to do that on that pitch It comes down to tactics & changing our style of play. I agree with our defence is C**p, it has more holes in it than a perforated tea bag and Leeds fans can see that but as for hiding from the truth thats crap, I.ve supportted Leeds for nearly 50 years seen them through the good times & bad times but I always av Faith. My advice is if you don't like what you see, don't watch them.
pete mc
Well said Pete, like you I've been going for 40+ years, if anybody can complain its the like of us. But we still keep going and supporting them through the GOOD times and the BAD

Encouraging signs lads...Nows the time when you all need to stick together...! Yours in sport,80s terrier...

I had been thinking of this game as a real banana skin. Unfortunatly that proved to be the case. Pete mc has hit it spot on, we never adjusted our tactics to suit the condidtions and playing surface. Lessons need to be learned and quick McAllistair or its going to be yet another season in league one.

Surely these players get papd enough money to be abale to adapt to any sort of conditions, for god sake we was playing a bunch of part timers!!! They have no excuse.
dazza71
Our youth team would have done better!

See what Saturday brings lads, its a must win game for macca, what do you lot think..Loose and papa smurf will be under pressure to show him the door..Still macca's job might just be safe till you lot start to round on papa smurf, then i reckon he will be used as the scape goat to keep smurf out of the firing line ...
