NEW SIGNING!

Leeds have signed 22-year-old striker Jermaine Beckford from non-league Wealdstone. He has scored 35 goals in 40 games for the Ryman Premier League outfit this season.

Kevin Blackwell: 'We are delighted to have signed Jermaine.

'We were aware there were a lot of clubs interested in him. We understand Southampton, Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Watford put bids in but for me, when Leeds United come calling, there's no contest.

'The chairman thinks there are one or two nuggets in the lower leagues and he wants us to try to tap into that resource as much as possible.'
