LUFC - Man in the middle

Premiership referee Steve Bennett will be the man in charge for Leeds United`s lunch time match against Peterborough United on Saturday.

Mr Bennett so far this season has refereed 7 games, in those 7 games that he`s refereed he`s shown 28 yellow cards and 0 reds.

Last season he refereed 45 games showing 143 yellow cards and 9 reds.

The last time he was in charge of a Leeds United game was last season at Bournemouth when Leeds won 3-1 and Bennett sent off Bournemouth`s Lee Bradbury.

He was actually in charge of the Bolton Wanderers game in 2004/05 when Leeds were relegated from the Premiership and he sent off Mark Viduka.

The last time he was in charge of Peterborough United was as far back as 1998/99 when the Posh drew 1-1 at home against Reading in the League Cup.

Referee: Mr S. Bennett (Kent)
Assistants: I.Gosling & M Yerby

He's got to be one of the worst referees in the Premiership!!!

No problem guys. Get ahead of him (he can't keep up). Make sure you throw yourself in the air in the penalty box when he can't see what's happened. Smile at the linesmen a lot. Get two penalties. Noooo Problem! Oh -- do this before Peterborough do. Once he's picked a favourite he stays with them. Flowers for his wife in the tunnel before the game?

Always a risk these refs who like to be high profile but better than a lower league guy who is used to to refereeing in front of 1500 people rather than the 15000 at tommorrows game

Time to stop these refs dropping down if not good enough get them to ref lower league games.

recent ones have been ok they also seem better suited to the big occassions, tommorrow will be a real cup tie carnival atmosphere, well at least in our end... the ref & lino's for Carlisle warmed up at the Leeds end and had good humoured banter with fans before the game
