Howson Signs New Leeds Contract

Jonny Howson has signed a new contract with Leeds United that ties him to the club until 2011.

The young midfielder was a rising star over the course of last season, cumulating in becoming the last-ditch hero as his thunderous bobbler fired United into a League One playoff final that unfortunately his team-mates forgot to show up to.

In an added twist, should Leeds United gain promotion (read: when) back to the Championship, Howson`s contract will be extended by a further year, taking him up until the year of the London Olympics, 2012. Boss Gary McAllister was obviously delighted with the news, as he told Leedsunited.com.

"We're all delighted. He's a player who has come through the Academy and is a local lad which is a big plus," he said.

"He's got an eye for goal and he has a nice mix to his game.

"He has a lot of potential and a lot of ammunition to develop his game and I'm pleased I've got the opportunity to help his development."

Its great that he's signed on for so long. Shows he's commited to seeing his home town club back into at least the Championship.

He is a good player. I would have liked to see him sign for Ipswich to be honest. Good luck to him though, Leeds is a reasonably big club, and it is in his interests to stay for a few more years.

"Thunderous bobbler"..Thats a new one to me.. Probably why his team mates didnt show up(too embarrased)..It will take more than a few "thunderous bobblers" to get out of this division...Sorry but it looks like back to the drawing board for you lot, your going to have to do better than that next season..lol..lol..ROFL.."thunderous bobbler" whatever next??lol...lol..lol..ROFL...

It would probably take us all til 2012 to come to terms with this oxymoron. In the meantime ill just settle for "fluke goal" ..
