Vital Leeds United: Support Howard Webb!

A number of media outlets have been suggesting it, and Vital Leeds is the latest in calling for support for the only Englishman involved in Euro 2008!

The Euro 2008 debut of one Howard Webb as referee will come as co-hosts Austria take part in a somewhat local game against Poland in the 53,000-seater Ernst-Happel Stadium in Vienna on the 12th June.

The English referee is one of just 12 officials to be awarded the group stage games, and he and his assistants Darren Cann and Mike Mullarkey will no doubt be hoping for a good performance, if they are to stand any chance of representing the nation in the latter stages of the England-less tournament. Mr Webb was obviously proud of his achievement:

“I am always proud when I go overseas and represent my country. It is fantastic and to be the only Englishman there adds some pressure.”

There was no place for Graham “3 cards you’ve gone” Poll this time around, the pressure a factor in the mind of Mr Webb as he quite rightly admitted:

“Maybe it will, although I hope not. I hope we can do England proud really. All my refereeing colleagues - from the Premier League to those who referee more locally - will be watching it and I want to represent them well.”

Come on Howard, do a nation proud!

That last statement was 4 SLF but He's been deleted. If Heineken coached our Refs in this country we would possible have the best Refs in the world. I would AV thought that with England not qualified there would av been more of a British representation.

SLF - Why do you continously come onto this site and make childish little comments that make you look a fool?
