Leeds United Veteran Striker Update

Leeds United are continuing their pursuit of one of the Championship top goalscorers last season in Kevin Phillips, and have been today linked with a move for former Manchester United striker Andy Cole.

Starting with the original link, West Brom striker Kevin Phillips has his agent doing the dirty work, with a meeting planned with Tony Mowbray & Co. later this week to ascertain as to whether the former Aston Villa and Sunderland forward has a future in the Baggies’ Premiership campaign.

The Albion are believed to be looking to keep hold of the 34-year-old, however the somewhat drawn out nature of his contract negotiations, coupled with the years flying by since his Sunderland hey-day, may well force the striker into looking for a move elsewhere.

Meanwhile, free agent Andy Cole may well be another target for Gary McAllister. The former Manchester United striker has been deemed surplus to requirements by ex-United team mate Roy Keane, and is now available on a free transfer. Cole finished the season on loan at Burnley where he managed to notch up 6 goals in 13 appearances in the Championship. Leeds are rumoured to be rivalling Norwich City, now without their own veteran Premier League striker Dion Dublin, for the signature.

The future for Leeds United seems to be experience; however are we forgetting to look under our noses at now former Leeds loanee Dougie Freedman?

No not Cole never rated him !

I agree Never rated him, other players do all the hard work, while he taps the ball home & claims all the glory. He was well over rated.

Andy Cole & BitterLeftTw*t are both **** , They get every where but nobody wants them, TAKE A HINT slf.

Thing was he tapped in goals after having 25 attempts before hand. He was a great striker at Newcastle but missed a lot more than he scored at Man utd. He's well past it and quite frankly we can do a lot better than him.
