'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Sweeney Cops Some Pain From Defeat

Peter Sweeney reflects on the disappointment of losing to Doncaster in the play-off final as he discusses his future at Elland Road.

'We're all gutted at the minute and that's the only way to describe it. Losing in the play-off final on Sunday will hurt for a while yet but it's just one of those things. The important thing is to get over it and go up automatically next year.

'If we have the same kind of season next year then we will go straight up. We just need to carry on the way we are. If we can win the same number of points as we did this season without the deduction we should finish in the top two, if not as champions.

'I'm still happy at Leeds though, it's not the kind of club you walk away from and I'm delighted to be a Leeds player. I've spoken to the manager about next season and he's told me he wants me at the club. I have two years left on my contract and I'd like to see those out fighting for my place at Elland Road and helping Leeds into the Championship.'

No I think we should keep hold of him.

Be carefull tiny terrier, its alright booting players out,but you have to be able to attract replacements of either the same or of a higher calibre..Id wait to see whos left, before i made any rash decisions..
80s terrier
There you are LUFC1,I thought you had done a Shannon Mathews and hid under your bed. Remember quizzing me if I went to Moscow(which you know i did),well do you mind telling me why you didn't go to Wembley?
SweetLeftFoot
You can have him at Hudd Town, we got too many soso midfielders one less won't matter
Tiny T
Not just the point i was trying to make tiny t,but if he's better than what weve got then im sure "Stan the man" will note any future demise...In the meantime it looks like he wants to stay and fight for his place according to the above comments...Cant fault the man for that, loyalty is worth its weight in gold...
80s terrier
I cannot see him having a future at Leeds. Whenever he's played he's not looked good enough.
