Leeds United Boss: Gillingham Reaction

Leeds United manager Gary McAllister was proud of the second half display as Leeds came from a goal behind to defeat, and hence relegate Gillingham.

Bradley Johnson and Tresor Kandol did the damage as United eventually overcame their League Two bound opponents, with over 38,000 Leeds fans watching the game which is some impressive total for a League One match.

“It was a good win in the end,” McAllister told leedsunited.com, “I've got to say Gillingham gave it their all and their manager can be proud of his players.

“Most of the teams that we've played in the bottom half - those around relegation - haven't played like they're in predicament, but we can't console them. There's no words I can say.”

A number of changes were made prior to the match to protect certain players in preparation for Leeds’ playoff semi-final matches against Carlisle United, something that has now possibly given the manager a selection headache as he added:

“You learn stuff all the time. I left four regulars out and I've got some food for thought, but I have said everyone has a part to play and they will. We will need the 19.”

Leeds are the form team so should fear nobody in the play offs. I am sure it will be another capacity crowd next Monday to get behind the team.
