Leeds Fans, Don't Blame Scally!

Gillingham Chairman Paul Scally has hit out at comments made by Ken Bates regarding the poetic justice to be should Leeds United send Gillingham down on the last day of the season, which they did with a 2-1 victory thanks to Tresor KKKKAAAANNNNDDDOOOLLLL!

Mr Scally was one of the 63 Football League chairmen that voted for a 15 point penalty against Leeds for failing to come out of administration with a valid CVA in place. Leeds supreme Ken Bates claimed that it would be “poetic justice” if the Whites were to send them down.

In return, perhaps ignoring his side’s demise Mr Scally said:

“I was one of 63 chairmen who voted to support the action against Leeds for misdemeanours carried out by the people running Leeds at the time.”

“There were 36,000 out there who think I'm the reason they lost 15 points and that clearly wasn't the case”

“They broke the regulations, got punished by the Football League board of directors and we were asked whether we supported the board,” Scally told BBC Sport.

“It was an anonymous vote and I was happy to come out and say I was one of the ones who supported the board.”

Perhaps Mr Scally, it was admitting it that got you into trouble. Regardless of that, I do hope that the man, the club and supporters genuinely enjoy League Two football next season.

Toodles!

That Ken Bates is the biggest 'slime ball' of the lot, he stirs things up on purpose, with hindsight Scally should have kept his thoughts out of the limelight like the others did who totally agreed with the penalty imposed on Leeds, but he cannot be blamed solely for the reason you got those points deducted, that can be answered a lot closer to home. Good luck in the play offs.

I have to agree with the last comment, at least he had the balls to come out and say who he voted for rather than hide away and say nothing.

I don't like Scally but i have to agree that while the other gutless chairman at other clubs burried their heads in the sand,he actually had the guts to admit he agreed with the decision. Happy days. P.S yes we've gone down blah blah blah.

Understatement, still with his destination championship programme in full swing he couldn't see the problem he might face playing Leeds last game of the season, funny thing with the crap signings we made last summer no-one else could see us going up. Still as they say funny old game lol. Need the sat nav to find Accrington.
