Scotland Is Becks’ Next Target

Jermaine Beckford has set his sights on becoming League One’s top goal scorer having rediscovered the goal trail against Walsall on Saturday.

Beckford made it 19 league goals with his brace against the fellow playoff candidates from the West Midlands and chases Swansea City marksman Jason Scotland who has 21 goals in the League, with a further 5 in cup competitions.

After his first goals in 5 games, Beckford was clearly delighted to get back amongst the action:

”It had been five games without a goal so I'm delighted to get back to scoring ways because I'm chasing Jason Scotland at the top of the charts.”

Boss Gary McAllister believes that the addition of Crystal Palace veteran Dougie Freedman may have contributed somewhat to Beckford’s return to form, and has undoubtedly assisted fringe strikers Tresor Kandol and Anthony Elding as he told leedsunited.com:

“He's got guile and experience, and he's brought all four strikers together.

“If we're going to get there, it's going to be the four of them. They all have to contribute, not just the two who have the shirt.

“I would have enjoyed playing with Dougie. It was a big decision for him to come here. He's got four young kids and it's a big wrench for him, but he's come and he's committed.

Err... I don't think so. Scotty has just added two more to his tally tonight.

He will find it difficult, but if he keeps on scoring we'll be happy!!!
