Leeds V Bournemouth: Macca Speaks

Leeds United boss Gary McAllister was delighted with the way his side started what is a ‘big week’ for the clubs League One promotion push.

Goals from Bradley Johnson and Neil Kilkenny were enough to overcome struggling Bournemouth, bringing United to within just one point of 6th placed Southend United and a playoff position. With 3 points in the bag Leeds now look forward to a game against Cheltenham Town that could (should the Whites win and Walsall and/or Southend slip up) see McAllister’s men up to as high as 5th place. He spoke to the official club website, Leedsunited.com:

“Before the game we'd made it clear that this was a big week. We have games against three teams near the bottom and it started well.

“The targets we have set are between me and the players, but they know what's required, and this was a good start to this group of games.

“It was good to be able to field the same side for the first time since I came. You want continuity, and people getting used to the system and how we play.”
