Uncle Ken Gives In?
Leeds United have agreed, under protest, to a private arbitration hearing it was announced today.
Having clearly had the Football League on the ropes, it will be interesting to find out just how they justify a similar climb down regarding the decision to enter into a private hearing, rather than having the guts to take the fight for the 15 points all the way to the High Court.
Chairman Ken Bates told Leedsunited.com:
“We have agreed under duress to arbitration in private. But what have they got to hide?
“We believe this should be conducted in the open because people have a right to know. This is supposed to be about transparency.”
If they were hiding something Ken, we should have gone with two feet into the battle to highlight what they were hiding. That said, the fight isn’t over yet and Leeds United will now nominate a member for the hearing, alongside someone of the Football League’s choice and an independent party in the form of an Appeal Court judge.
More as we get it.
