Villa Defender Joins Leeds United

Aston Villa full-back Stephen O'Halloran has joined Leeds United on an initial one-month loan.

The 20-year-old Republic of Ireland International has been on the fringes of the Premier League side first team, however following an unsuccessful attempt at a short-term move at Championship Southampton, Martin O’Neill has allowed the defender to move to Elland Road.

The move is likely to have been instigated due to the fact that the players’ former Ireland boss, Steve Staunton, is now assistant manager to new boss Gary Mac.

With Staunton’s vast experience as a Premier League left and centre-back there will be little doubt of O’Halloran’s quality in a position that Leeds have perhaps needed to strengthen for some time.

Stephen will be with Leeds until the 29th March.
