'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Donny Weren’t The Only Ones!

Leeds United fans weren’t the only ones to be inconvenienced by the mismanagement of the recent cold snap as Crewe Alex postpone their 3pm kick off just an hour beforehand!

In a similar fashion to the Keepmoat, Crewe Alexandra’s Gresty Road stadium is swamped by a massive stand that left the majority of the playing surface well shaded all morning and was still frozen as they inspected the pitch. Vital Crewe carried the story at 2.04 as their co-editor Pastyman broke the news, by which time the vast majority of the travelling support would have arrived in Cheshire, or certainly be very close having made the 3 hour trek from Cumbria.

Carlisle, like Leeds United, now look set to act by requesting a Football League investigation into the matter. Managing Director John Nixon told the Carlisle United official site:

'I don't think there is any argument, having seen the pitch first hand, that the game had to be called off today, but I think that we are all extremely disappointed in the timing of the decision. Our fans have travelled in numbers once again, so we will vigorously pursue the issue, on their behalf, with the Football League on Monday. Obviously we can say more on the matter once that has been done.'

'Blues Travel will also be looking at providing free travel for the rearranged fixture,' he added, 'but, again, we will be able to confirm the details of that once we have had a chance to review the situation on Monday morning.'

The referee decided to ignore advice from Crewe at 9am that the pitch would not thaw by kick off. Not really much more we could have done, if anyone's to blame it's the referee.
Dink.
Once again fans aren't given a second thought and are expected to fork out to travel long distances for nothing!

Got to admit you have a point there dazza71....Bet if someone was successful with a compensation claim against the fa, the potential for opening the floodgates for claims would bring them to their senses ... Cant see anything else (other than a phone call from "sky") doing it..!!!! Yours in sport "80s terrier"
